This report, which was released during the AAOS 2023 Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, offers actionable information to guide physician and patient decision making to improve care. AJRR is the largest orthopaedic registry in the world based on annual procedures submitted. Data presented in the AJRR 2022 Annual Report Supplement were submitted to the AJRR by 401 institutions through March 2022.

All primary total hip arthroplasty and total knee arthroplasty cases from January 2017 to December 2021 with either no patient-reported outcome measures (PROM) data or linked pre-op and 12-month post-op PROM data were included in the generalizability analysis. The report found that distributions of patient demographics, comorbidities and hospital size are very similar between those cases with PROMs compared to those without. Cases submitted by institutions with a major teaching status were consistently overrepresented in cases with no PROMs though the difference remained “small” compared to PROM cases.
